Bali is a popular place for tourists to visit and vacation. Though tourists only visit for a couple days, even weeks, they may not think about the impact they leave. I think sometimes we forget that it can be better to spend our dollars at businesses that are showing us sincere efforts towards environmental areas, such as not using plastic straws and bags, and avoiding bottled water. We, as consumers, decide where we spend our money, and we should spend them responsibly… no matter if we are only visiting a place for a couple of days.
Single-use plastic may not seem like a major issue, but it causes huge damage to our environment. For instance, it can take hundreds of years for plastic to decompose, and most of it will end up on our beaches and in the oceans.

To take action, I would simply do what I am doing now to start off – post. Raise awareness and actually support businesses that go green. Instead of spending my money elsewhere, I can spend it somewhere that can have an impact on the environment. Some businesses that are sustainable include: Kynd Community, Cafe Organic, and Herb Library. I can also get involved with organizations to help clean up pollution left on beaches, or I can easily go alone because if others see me, they might follow along! It all starts with one person acting out, for others to do so as well.

In order for Bali to stay a beautiful place to live and tourists to visit, we must support the movement and become part of the solution – not the problem.
